Albert H. Goolsby of Barineau Park, FL passed away on Nov. 21, 2018, surrounded by family. He was 84 years old. Albert was born in Florala, AL and resided in the area for 64 years. Albert served in the Army during The Korean War, before embarking on a career with Monsanto, where he retired after 39 years of service.
The love of Albert’s life was Dorothy Nell Strickland. They shared a beautiful love story, having been married for 64 years. Albert enjoyed being outdoors, and especially enjoyed camping, hunting quail and deer, and shooting sporting clays. He loved to tell a good story, and their home was always filled with the laughter of loved ones and friends. Albert was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL.
Albert is preceded in death by his treasured grandson, Donald Henry “Hank” Goolsby, who was taken too soon. Also waiting to greet Albert in heaven are his parents, Leonard and Maude Goolsby; 2 Brothers, Art (Joy) and Willie (Elsie) Goolsby; and a Sister, Mildred (Austin) Beck.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Goolsby of Barineau Park, FL; 2 sons, Donald (Donna) Goolsby and Henry Scott Goolsby (Cindy LaPointe), also of Barineau Park. 2 loving granddaughters, Denise (Adam) Kendig, and Amanda Goolsby, all of Pensacola, and 2 great-grandsons who had his heart. A host of other family members and friends will also miss him dearly.
Services will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 26th at 2:00PM, with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00PM. Interment will be at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the loving professionals from Covenant Care Hospice who cared for Albert in the home, and also the inpatient Covenant Care Hospice Staff at West Florida Hospital.
