Al is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Johnson, of 45 years. His brothers -Ray Johnson (Donna), Ralph Johnson, and Howard Brooks. Sisters, Patricia Myers and Kathy Ray (Don.) His daughter Tammy Della Ratta (Mike.) Sons Jeff Johnson (Donna), Albert “Bubba” Johnson JR (Wendi Mixson), Lance Johnson, and Eddie Johnson. Grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Jordan Bicasan, Emily Johnson, Landon Johnson, Macie Della Ratta, Laney Johnson, Brittany Rozar, Alan Rozar, Rebecca Johnson, Eddie Johnson, and great granddaughter Vivianne Draven.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Helen Louise Lamb, Father Grover Johnson, Brother Grover “Butch” Johnson, brother Donald Johnson, sister Nancy Hancock and daughter Laurel Rozar.

Al was born in Brooklyn, New York. Served in the army for 6 years. Started with NY Air Defense, served in Korea and honorably discharged in Columbus, GA. at Ft. Benning in 1968.

His love for the car business started at Treadwell Ford in Forsyth, GA in 1971. Started Sandy Sansing in 1991 until present day.

His eldest granddaughter, Ashley, said it best: “Al was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. A hardworking man, the biggest jokester, the trivia and puzzle master, the smart finance guy, the man who raised my dad to be the best father to me he possibly could, and boy did he teach him well because I got so lucky. Man, could Paw Paw make you laugh. I think that is what I will miss the most, that humor that only the select few of us understood.”

Visitation will be at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm.

The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30am.

    One of the BEST people I ever had the privilege to know. Big Al always shot me straight whether I liked it or not. The hours I spent working beside him and playing trivia next to him will always stick with me. I know he is pain free with a great big smile on his face now looking down and cheering on the ones he loved. I’ll never forget my friend.

    I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the family for the loss of your dear Al. I hope that you will find comfort in the words of Jesus at John 5:28,29 where he promised that the day is coming when he is going to resurrect back to life those in the grave. Until then, it is just like they are sleeping. (John 11:11-13) May your family draw strength from Jehovah, the God of all Comfort.

    My deepest sympathies to his family. Al was one of the greatest I’ve ever met and I will miss him dearly. I was lucky to have him in my life and will cherish all the wonderful memories we made. RIP “Big Al.”
