    Butterflies:
Butterflies are considered powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly as a representation of our soul. Around the world , the butterfly represents – Endurance, Change, Hope, and Life.
Alma, or G.G as she is known by her three Great-Grandchildren, had an obvious affection for butterflies. She had several pendants and broaches she wore on her blouses and hats. I often thought the reason she loved them so was because they came with spring and summer, which in turn are the peak seasons of flowers.
When GG went in to the nursing home, Ben & I wondered how she would continue to be able to be surrounded by them. * This painting was made by Arianne – GG’s great-granddaughter – mine and Ben’s daughter. When she had painted it and I saw it, I asked her why she had painted it. Arianne simply replied, “Because Mom, if she doesn’t have a shirt on with one on it, then she has a pin or pendant on with a butterfly – so I painted the butterfly so she would have one on the wall in her room for her to always look at.”
Alma’s life, like the butterfly, was powerful, enduring, hopeful, and faithful. Powerful in the love she had for her family and friends. Enduring – She had the ability to overcome pain and suffering and turn it into the strength she needed to help others with similar struggles and loss. Hope – GG had a way of demonstrating how relying on her faith and being faithful through her walk with the Lord gave her the hope she needed to live the life she had been given.
The way she lived her life is a testament to the love she had for her Lord and Savior, family, and friends. She would want us to remember her for her endless kindness, infectious smiles, joyful laughter, and unwavering respect she had for others.
CYK – Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Friend!!
You will be missed – You are LOVED!!
    DaLisa
