Charles F. Sutley • August 18, 2017

Mr. Charles F. Sutley, 81, went home August 18, 2017 to be with Jesus, our Lord and Saviour. Charles was the 8th child of nine born to Joseph and Lida Sutley. Charles was born in Pensacola and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1955. He worked for Chemstrand and Monsanto for almost 36 years. He married Hazel Tharp on March 9, 1956 and had a son, Donald and a daughter, Gayla. Words cannot tell how he loved us, always kind and gentle.
Charles was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 60 years. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He served the Lord with gladness.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Noma Castleberry, Edna James, Dessie Hall, and Annie Greenwood.
Precious memories will be treasured by his wife, his children, Donald (Elizabeth) Sutley, Gayla (Gary) Arnold, and grandchildren whom he loved very much, Laura Michelle Arnold, and Ethan Charles Sutley. Sisters Mary (Andy) Anderson and Betty Lowery, brothers Jack (Katie) Sutley and James (Lucy) Sutley. Very many nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and the family of Hazel.
As a family, we enjoyed camping in the Smoky Mountains and Georgia and Alabama State Parks. Charles also enjoyed playing and singing Gospel music with Don in some churches and the Waterfront Rescue Mission.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 12 Noon till the service begins at 1 PM.
Pallbearers are Daniel Harrison, Robert Lowery, Ronnie Lowery, Darrell Hall, Art Sommers, and Johnny Lovelace.
PENSACOLA MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Special thanks to the 2nd floor chemo staff and Dr. “D” at Sacred Heart Cancer Center for always taking good care with so much love for Charles.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to missions at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
