David Edward Butler, Sr., 87, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on May 26, 2019.
Visitation will be from 5 pm – 7 pm. May 29th at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday May 30th at Gateway Baptist Church with Pastor Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
David was born in Bunkie, Louisiana to Francis and Orella (Hebert) Butler on May 9th, 1932. He married Deanna (Alger) on December 22, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with a civil engineering degree from a Louisiana university. He retired from the Navy after 29 years of service and continued working in management for many years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a devout husband and father. David was the backbone of his family, providing support to all his children. A man of character, David had many trying medical issues that he endured without complaint. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Gateway Baptist Church since 1992. He was able to see many parts of the world through his work and love of travel. He was accomplished and a man of integrity. David is loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.
David is preceded in death by his wife Deanna and daughter Christine (Burt) Butler-Countryman.
David is survived by children Timothy (Jennifer) Butler, Pauline (Alan) Field, David (Carrie) Butler, Jr., Deborah (Lyn) Miller. His grandchildren include Jacquelynn (Jessie) McCarty, Aaron Dockery, Joshua Butler-Countryman, Sebastian Gardenhire, Brian Field, Susan Field, Sarah Field, Timothy (Bowie) Butler, McKenzie Butler, Elizabeth Field, Micah Miller, Mary Field, Mitchell Miller, Charles Butler, Davey Butler, Macayla Miller, and Cassandra Butler. Great-grandchildren include Keira and J. R., Ryehl.
