Evelyn B. Baker, 77, of Pensacola, Florida passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 , at Spartanburg Medical Center. Evelyn was born June 18, 1941 in Evening Shade, Arkansas.
She was the daughter of the late Connie and Lulu Riggs. Until relocating to Spartanburg , South Carolina, she was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.

She was a graduate of Derby High School in Wichita, Kansas. After 32 years, she retired from civil service after working at both NAS Pensacola and Whiting Field in Florida. As a Navy wife, she had the opportunity to travel to foreign countries and many places in the United States. Her children were born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Kenitra, Morocco, Africa.

She is the mother of Louise Baker Connell (John) of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Roberta L Hacker (Kearny) of Roswell, Georgia; two grandchildren – Courtney Connell Landsverk (Jon) of Spartanburg, South Carolina and John Ford Connell, Jr. (Lindsey) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers and 4 sisters: Roy Schenck, Boyce Schenck, Ruby Cotton, Bevelyn Miller, Bonnie Barton, and Charlotte Terrill.

The funeral will be held in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday, November 1 at 2:00 PM at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

  1. It was a great honor to care for Ms. Evelyn Baker. I enjoyed every morning I got to spend with her. She always greeted me back with good morning. And a smile. That Thursday I will never forget. I was with her when she entered the facility and when she left the facility. I hold a special place for her in my heart with her blue eyes. Your family is held deeply in my prayers.
