George Freeman Franklin • July 17, 2017

George F Franklin, 94, peacefully passed away July 17, 2017. He was a graduate of Tate High School and lifetime member of Gonzalez Baptist Church, WWII veteran, serving as a Paratrooper and Demolition Specialist in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the 127th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 11th Airborne Division. He married Georgia Irene Richburg, 1947. An active athlete, he coached Little League baseball teams and mentored his son Dennis and grandson Doug. Retired from St Regis Paper, he and Irene enjoyed the good life with their family and friends.
He is preceded in death by wife Irene, son Dennis, and granddaughter Tara.
George is survived by sisters, Mary Evans and Barbara Ellis; son David Franklin (Lee); daughter Marsha Corner (John); grandsons Douglas Franklin (Kim) and Chad Corner (Jennifer); granddaughter Laura Sinclair (Allen); great grandson Hunter Franklin; and great granddaughters Kaitlyn and Riley Corner.
The family will receive friends for visitation at PENSACOLA MEMORIAL GARDENS CHAPEL from 10-11am, Saturday, July 22, 2017 with funeral service to follow at 11:00am.

    George was a friend and co=worker at St Regis and Champion. I remember him well. He was a faithful employee and knew his job well. He will be missed.
