Ida Mae (Shaw) Blanton, 98 of Pensacola, FL passed away on October 18, 2017. Ida Mae, affectionately known to all as Granny, was born outside of Jemison, AL on July 25, 1919 and later moved to McDavid, FL where she grew up. She moved to Pensacola in 1936 as a newlywed to begin their life. She was a loving wife and partner to her husband of 37 yrs (Jesse James Blanton) and devoted loving mother to her daughters Eloise Williams and Beverly Andersen and Great-Great Grandmother to Noah Cross Turner who have all preceded her. She was also preceded by her parents and 11 siblings. She loved helping her husband with their businesses during their long marriage, working as a poll worker during elections for more than 30yrs, cooking wonderful Sunday dinners well known to family and friends, and most of all working in her yard at their home built in 1949.
She is survived by her 5 grandchildren, Cindy (Virgil) Talas, David (Dara) Turner, Diane (Roy) Bonelli, Joy (Britt) Whitehouse and Danielle Andersen; her 20 great-grandchildren Cody Bonelli and Megan (Boyd) Hendrixson , Shalyn, Grayson, Meli, Ransom, Sully, Missy, Sevgi, Niki, Seker, Aslan, Billy, Race, Gabriel, Melek, Kelebek, Johnny, Creed and Blue Turner plus her 2 great-great grandchldren Aria Turner and Wyatt Hendrixson who were blessed in life to know her and will never forget her.
Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on October 28, 2017 at 1pm, with funeral services following at 2pm. She will be laid to rest on the PMG grounds, alongside her husband and children, following the service.

    Raney lived with Ida Mae and Jesse for a time when he was younger and always spoke of her with respect and admiration. She was always a favorite of our family, with her kind simple centered way of living her life. We have been gone from Pensacola for to many years but you are all near and dear tonour hearts and we share in your loss. I would say ” Sorrow not for we will meet her on the other side”

    Raney (Jesse’s Brother) Lived with Jesse & Ida Mae for a time when he was younger and always spoke of her with high praise and respect. She was such a wonderful example of grace with a simple kind way of living and loving others. We have been gone from Pensacola for sometime but it is with great affection we think of you all and share in your loss.     Joy, we were so very saddened to hear of the loss of your precious Granny. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with both of you and all of your family.     Joy, we are so very sorry that we cannot come for her services, but due to Ann’s vertigo we just can’t fly to Pensacola. We love you and Britt, and we send hugs to both of you.

    Dear Family: my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I remember Miss Ida Mae from my teen age years with Eloise. She was a gracious and caring lady. She loved her family and put them first in her life. I had not talked to her for the past 2 years, but whenever we did talk, we reminisced about the past and people we knew. It was always a pleasure to visit with her. She did miss Elise and Beverly so much and now they are together. May God be with you all during this time.
