Jack Friend • August 10, 2017

Jack Friend, age 86, of Cantonment passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017.
Mr. Friend was born in Missoula, MT and was currently residing in Cantonment. He was retired from the US Army and US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.
After his military career he worked at the Pensacola Naval Hospital till his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sharon Friend; sons, Ernie Friend (Patsy) and Michael W. Friend (who passed later that day); grandsons, Michael A. Friend (Melanie) and Chad Friend (Dianna); great granddaughter, Brianna Dilisio; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in conjunction with his son, Michael W. Friend’s, visitation at Heritage Baptist Church 3065 Hwy. 297-A Cantonment on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 9:00am until the service begins at 10:00am.
Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Military Honors.

    I met Mr. Jack Friend in the Specialty Center & also his son (Michael) whom was visiting him some time ago. They both seemed very nice. My Mother-in-law also lives there. Her name is Johnnie McCoy. I’m sure he will be missed by all. Shirley Jaeger

    Jack was the sweetest man. We were friends because we both loved horses. He let my late husband ride his awesome Paso Fino Bandit, who boarded with my horse, when we were dating. He also rode in the sheriff’s posse and was loved by everyone. He was a very kind man. Prayers for the family, especially Sharon.
