John W. Stacey, 73, was born August 31, 1944 in Aberdeen, Mississippi and died October 5, 2017 at home following a brief illness. He was educated in Escambia County public schools and graduated from University of West Florida and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. An ordained Baptist minister, he was pastor of Blue Angel Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida at the time of his passing to his heavenly home. He also served churches in Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama during his 48 years of pastoral ministry.
Left to carry on is his wife of 49 years, Cheryl; son, John Gerrit Stacey (Kim), Pensacola; daughter, Laura Stacey Freeman (Ray), St. Augustine, Florida; grandsons, Joshua Stacey, Austin Stacey, and Jared Stacey all of Pensacola; granddaughters Carson Freeman and Cate Freeman of St. Augustine, Florida, and bonus granddaughters through marriage Cory Nicolaus (Kyle) and Cassy Tacke (Shaun) with their children Averie and Everett Nicolaus and Jude and Zane Tacke; sisters, Marie Stacey Mead (Jim) and Janice Stacey both of Pensacola; nephews, Brian Mead (Sonya), Texarkana, Texas, and Paul Mead and Corey Mead, both of Pensacola; aunts, Earleen Perkins (Gaynor) of Pensacola and Ethel Carter of Tupelo, Mississippi and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 11 a.m. The family will welcome guests beginning at 9:30 a.m. Internment is at Eastern Gate Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be ministers of Pensacola Bay Baptist Association. Active pallbearers are Brian Mead, Paul Mead, Corey Mead, Anthony Perkins, Kevin Wisdom, and Darrell Cutshaw.
