Ray Box • September 30, 2018



Long-time Pensacola resident, Mr. Ray Box, died September 30, 2018. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be Tuesday, October 9th at 10am at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. The family will accept visitors Monday evening, October 8th, from 5-7pm. Ray’s final resting place will be Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland, Alabama. The inurnment date has yet to be determined, but he will be buried with military honors.
Ray would have celebrated his 84th birthday Saturday, October 6, 2018. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Allie Wright Box and Viola Overton. He retired from the Tech Data Department, at Pensacola Naval Air Station, after approximately 34 years of Civil Service. He proudly served his county as a member of the National Guard. He was a loving husband, father and friend.
Ray was survived by his wife, Opal Box; his children: Michael Box (Debbie), Karen Englett and Tammy Magill (Jim); Grandchildren: Wesley Thomas (Sandy), James Magill, Katie Mihu (Nathan), Lindsey Box and Jonathan Box (Amber). His stepdaughters: Sharon Cacciatore (Tom), Teresa Pugh (Don) and Janis Sanders. His step-grandchildren: Rose Morrow (Mike), David Simpson, James Carter (Allie), Jennifer Pugh, his special “Little Squirt” Amanda Glenn and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Viola Box, brother James Box and granddaughter Kari Thomas.
