Robert Clifton Smith, age 85, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on September 23, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 62 years, proud father of three sons, and a dedicated grandfather to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert was born on December 27, 1932 to the late Frank and Ruby (Hodges) Smith. He married Bernice Green Smith on September 23, 1955. He was a hard worker and dedicated his life to providing for his family.

With great pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Navy before accepting a civil service job for thirty years at Eglin Air Force Base. After fifty-six years in the workforce, he made the most of his retirement by relaxing, reading, watching his favorite westerns, and spending time at home with his wife.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ratliff; son, Nathan Smith; daughter-in-law, Rebecca McClure; grandchildren, Sheila Pittman, Kent, Samantha, Robert, Crystina and Cierra Smith; great grandchildren, Danielle, Tyler, Josh, Mika, J.R. Nicholas, Nicole, Haylee, Haiyden, T.J., Jax, Lily, and Korra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby Smith; brother, Edward Smith; wife, Bernice Green Smith; sons, Kenneth and Randall Clifton Smith; and grandson, Randall Ernest Smith.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 from 6pm until 8pm at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

    I wish I would’ve known you and memaw both better as a person. I know you were a good man and always took care of your family. I love you pepaw , I hope you enjoy your peace with memaw, daddy, uncle Randy and little Randy. I’ll see y’all in time. We all miss and love you all .
