Ronnie Lee Ayers was born on Nov 15, 1951 in Celina, Oh. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Teacher, Officer, and Church member. He is survived by his mother, brother, sister, wife of 41 years, son, daughter, 2 grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
Ron was a wonderful husband and father. Ron married Louise Ayers on January 2, 1976. They were married 41 years and renewed their vows in Hawaii on their 30th anniversary. After adopting her daughter, Tammy, they had a son, Chris, together a few years later. He has 2 grandchildren that he adores, Faith and Tyler. Ron also leaves behind his mother, Mary Ella; brother, Scott; and sister, Donna, and their families.
Ron was also active in his community. He was active in the scouting community acting as a Pack Leader and Scout Master for many years. Ron was active in his church community in Celina, OH, Fairfax, VA, and Pensacola, FL. He served at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church as an Usher, a Layperson for the United Methodist Men and as a Sunday School teacher. He was the Treasurer and Secretary of the UMM for 14 years.
Ron graduated from the Naval Academy in 1974. He served in the Hurricane Hunters, and on the USS Saratoga and the USS Theodore Roosevelt. During his career, he served in many ports around the world, including Washington, D.C., Naples, Italy, Mayport, FL, Greece, Spain, Iceland, and Israel. After 20 years of service, he retired as a Lt. Commander.
After retiring from the Navy, he went back to school and received a Masters in Education. He taught for 14 years at Pine Forest High School. He taught Math and worked with the Special Education Program. He was a supporter of the Pine Forest Football and Band programs. He was able to touch the lives of many of his students before he retired due to declining health.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00pm Saturday, September 2, 2017. Funeral service will take place at 1:00pm Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the funeral home.
