He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jutta (Judy) just 6 weeks before him. Tom was a faithful and loving husband who visited his wife at least every week for the six years she was suffering from Alzheimer’s and in an assisted living facility. Tom was the last person so see Judy and kiss her goodbye before she left our world.
He was also preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Ann, two brothers Robert and Francis, four sisters Kathy, Rita, Betty, and Theresa, and his mother and father-in-law.
Thomas James was born on August 28, 1925 in Norway, Iowa. He was the oldest of ten children. Tom proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Tom advanced to the rank of Master Chief during his 30 years of service. He then took a civilian job with the Navy for an addition twelve years.
Tom was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending his retirement pier fishing with his wife, Judy and loved following the weather in Florida. He adored his family, sons, and grandchildren and loved visits from them all. Tom was a quiet man of great integrity who never had a mean word to say about anyone and could be counted on always. Tom was the most loyal husband and father any one could ask for, and he truly enjoyed a surprise takeout pizza brought home unexpectedly from one of his sons.
