Vivian Minton, 97 years old, born January 3rd, 1920, died peacefully on Sunday, October 22nd, from complications of Congestive Heart Failure while being lovingly cared for at Homestead Village and assisted by Covenant Hospice.
She was predeceased by her mother, Lorene Beatrice Jones, her five siblings, her first husband and father of her eight children, Wesley Everitt (Red) Hinnant, her second husband Emiel George Minton, her daughter, Bonnie Beatrice Boatwright and her grandson Eric Everitt Hinnant.
She is survived by sons David Wesley Hinnant (Jean, deceased) of Crestview Florida, Lawrence Everitt Hinnant (Helen) of Luverne Alabama, Paul Michael Hinnant (Jennie) of Pace, Florida, Stephen Dale Hinnant (Gretchen) of Lilburn, Georgia, and her daughters Deborah A. Timbie (William) and Barbara Elizabeth Tyce (Randy), both of Milton, Florida, and Heidi Elaine Schiller (Robert) of Fairfield Ohio. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our Mother was a native of Pensacola and attended Hallmark Elementary School. She is a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and a former member of Brownsville Baptist Church where she was a loyal, long-term volunteer in their community clothes closet. She was very involved in promoting and keeping the Brownsville community beautiful and safe. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing numerous Fiesta wear gowns and sewing costumes for the Pensacola Little Theater. She was a needleworker also, and up until two years ago, crocheted pink and blue baby caps and delivered them to Baptist Hospital for their newborn nursery. She was an artist, a published author and home gardener.
She was instrumental in designing floats for the former Pensacola Childrens’ Parades. She worked alongside her husband Red at Reds Curb Market, in Brownsville. She also worked for her brother-in-law, Luther (L.C.) Hinnant at his L. C.’s Curb Market in Brownsville. She was also a former Escambia County School Bus driver.
Services and burial will be on Saturday, October 28th at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00. Pallbearers will be our Mothers grandsons.
