Bill Murphy, a resident of Pensacola for the past 56 years, died on December 14, 2009. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Murphy was born in Opp, Alabama, April 10, 1928, to Bernie and Annie Mae Murphy.
Bill spent most of his life as a business owner in the construction industry around the Pensacola area. He was a founding member of the Southern Mirror Company.
He is preceded in death by a son, Trace B. Murphy, a sister, Mildred Schabert, and a brother, King Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Allie O. Murphy, a daughter, Rebecca N. Harwell (Mike) of Pensacola, and two sons, Timothy J. Murphy (Melinda) of Monroeville, Alabama, and Taze Murphy (Yvonne) of Pensacola; five siblings , Sybil Rooks of High Springs FL, John J. Murphy of Pensacola, Mae Taylor of Olympia, Washington, Bernice Watkins of Pensacola, and Elmer Murphy of Milton; nine grandchildren, Amanda M. Yelle and Brande M. Murphy of Foley, Alabama, James Ryan and Christopher T. Harwell of Pensacola, Jessica N. Swenson and Monica D. Murphy of Bay Minette, Chase B., Pryce B., and Allie M. Murphy of Pensacola; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Ashley Yelle, Trace B. Murphy, and Payton T. Kelly,
Funeral services, including visitation and burial will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, Florida, 32526. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2009, from 1:00pm – 2:00pm with service held immediately afterward. The family will hold a private burial service at a later date.
Although the family will accept flowers they suggest donations be made to Baptist Cancer Institute—Kugelman Cancer Center, 1717 North "E" St. Tower 1, Suite 409, Pensacola, FL 32501, in memory of Bill Murphy.
